My first yoga session was Bikram yoga at a local yoga studio, Anchorage Yoga. 80+ degrees, no towel, and I was late so I was stuck under the ceiling fan! Yet, it was the best 60 minutes of my life…and I was hooked. It seemed like everyone was doing yoga and it was one of those “popular” things you should do and then move on to the next new fad. It takes a lot for me to stop things I have started, and have fallen for a deep respect for. I did yoga for almost 10 years, 1-2 times a week. I stopped practicing for 2 years due to a very strenuous contest prep and the month after winning my pro card, I fell off my balance beam entirely. Sometimes finding that equilibrium in all that I do, becomes challenging, but I am grateful and humble to be a born again yogi! I’m not the best by any means, but the calmness that it has brought in my life with being patient with my husband and children, speaking with a loving and understanding tone than always a mean and defensive tone…my yoga practice for my 2016 contest prep is going to allow me to better respond, organize, and communicate with life outside of bodybuilding!
I’m excited to share my born again yoga journey with you through my yogi name: the Samoan Yogi. Each pose will be from a favorite place of mine in Alaska and I’m wearing a traditional Samoan sarong. Namaste!

I fell upon Restored360 Designs on accident and it was an amazing accident indeed! Lauren has a wonderful eye for simplicity, soft colors, and her tutorials for a first time blogger are very easy! Her themes are mobile responsive, wordpress themes, and are affordable! Her background as a stay at home mother of two children and making money from home with her graphic designing, is a dream of mine…in the making! The very theme I chose is the Adore theme. I love it!
